Ok, I am new to the whole aquarium bit; my husband has had one in the house for years but I never paid much attention to it and he has only done bare minimum maintenance. I got a wild hair and decided to try to make the plants look better.... In the end some of the fish died (and the rest may still die) and I'm trying to figure out why. Here's what I did:

I did a little reading on the Internet and found that we could make our own CO2 injector by mixing yeast, sugar, water in a Coke bottle and funneling the CO2 into the tank via some airline tubing. Long story short, a little bit of this mixture ended up in the tank (75 gallons) due to my ignorance of vacuum. It started producing CO2 within hours which I collected in an overturned drinking glass so it could diffuse into the water.

The other I did is I added some plant food tabs to the gravel. The website I read suggested using the cheaper pond plant tabs rather than aquarium plant tabs.

The morning after we did the CO2 and the plant food the water was cloudy and that evening two angelfish died. I don't know what the pH was before but now it is really high (at least 9) according to API test strip.

Anyone have any thoughts on what killed the fish/raised the pH?

ok so my filter had a tube so that the fish can't be sucked up by it. i spent the night away from home and when i returned home today i was looking for my bubble-eyed goldie and i found half his head stuck in the filter. i quickly unplugged it and let him swim out. when i looked at the inevitable damage, i found his bubble burst and there was a collection of blood in the front of his face. this is normal considering he was stuck in a vacuum for an unknown length of time. i put some melafix in right away since the bubble burst, but i'm not sure what i need to do to fix the hematoma (giant, horrible, hickey) on his head. he's swimming very minimally and trying to eat. it also looks like that eye was damaged, but there is now movement in it whereas before there was none. it looks like pop eye, but my main concern is the hematoma, bc i know ppl can die if left untreated and i want to do everything for my fish that i can!

I know that there are imperfections, it wrote this just to get the idea down. Something did happen to me but honestly it wasn't this bad. I just had the idea, I like to write...

Virulent, Devil Women
My day had gone straight to hell, and, unsurprisingly, a woman was the chauffeur. I find that the feeling is best described if you imagine if you took a vacuum to your chest after cutting it open without any anesthesia. While your heart is sucked through the tube into the deep, dark, vacuous existence all feelings of happiness desert you too; leaving only but a dreary feeling of melancholy, all the while your heart rests among foul dirt, dust, mess, and nauseating smell.
The next few days drag like a bum leg. They are filled to the brim with one-word responses, noises of contempt, and an absolute deprivation of aspiration. The only thing that earns it keep is a severely over-sized, low quality, grubby cobalt blue robe. What still baffles me is that through the conversation someone kicked be in the head or pummeled it with an iron pipe. One of the two… For when I gathered my wits, I found with them a burly headache.
At least I was able to confirm one suspicion of mine through the ordeal. I, after the fantastic turn of events, meandered to car. I pried open the car door and slide in. Son of a ***** is all I could think. The confounded radio greets my ears with the Beatles’ hit “All You Need is Love.” Ironic? Yes. Infuriating? Absolutely. Looking back on it, funny? Of course, but at the time I had unwittingly been sporting a somber pair of shades that gave my world a tainted tint.
Over the next few days not much helps ease my pain. Nothing assuages my mind. It is astounding though. How can one person singularly conduct such a symphony of pain? The absolute truth is that only a woman can do that. You could morph a bear with a train, giving it claws teeth, stand right in from of the damned thing and suffer less pain. You could be beat like a piñata, harpooned, chewed up, spit out, steam-rolled, electrocuted, trampled, drowned, hell, even castrated and be saved from a world of anguish that is tenfold as terrible as any of the other choices.

Guys- Sorry I apologize in advance for the lengthy post.. But please shoot me your insight on this.

I was running another compression test with my brother on my01 late last night after doing some mods to the car. The numbers were good 230-240ish.

To make a long story short, as we were finishing up on cylinder 1 ( closest to the radiator) .... I was pulling the compression gauge ( its an ACTRON from advanced) from the #1, the adapter did not come out, however I did not notice this, since this is the first tester I have ever see with a screw on adapter...F$#@!!!!!

Anyways not aware of this I grabbed my spark plug and screwed it in the adapter (can you believe its the same 14mm thread as the plug( Oh the Humanity!! !!!!)
as I was screwing it in I felt some binding and quickly pulled the plug back out and realized what I had done.



So the outcome essentially is, I have my compression tester adapter torqued ( 10-15 lbs) in the cylinder head of #1 and 2 small pieces of ceramic fractured off from the inside of the plug as it was being screwed down in to the adapter/ head......

I have no idea how to get the adapter out, however I was planning to put a fiber optic camera down to head If I can get the adapter out and vacuuming out the ceramic fractures off the top of the piston.





I have no clue how to get the adapter out, it looks like a 17mm socket would fit it, however nothing bigger than a 16 will fit down those tubes. Its threaded internally for the gauge to tighten in however it torque in there enough to not be removed with needle nose etc ...

I have a tube of 8 cinnamon rolls from Pillsbury, but I just want to cook two of them. Is it okay to store the rest in a plastic bag if I "vacuum seal" it (ie, suck all of the air out with my mouth since I don't have one of those fancy vacuum bag systems)? If not, is there another way to store them? Also, how long can I store them for before I need to cook them?

The package says not to freeze the dough, and the expiration date is marked as Oct 13.

I have these neighbors who are just absolutely repulsive! Lately they haven't been over to our house, but because we've made ourselves unavailable to them. But before they were always here, always asking for things, always needing our help. Then it turned into not asking anymore. They would just walk in instead of knocking, making themselves at home, putting their nasty stinky feet on our couches, walking straight to our refrigerator and asking to eat our food or drink our sodas. One day they were here and I began vacuuming, and they said I was O.C.D. because I vacuum all the time. Truth is, I have a one year old and vacuuming is very necessary all the time, am I right? I guess they would say that because when I went into their house, it was disgusting! There was absolutely no space to walk, there was food crumbs everywhere, dishes, clothes, junk, all over the floor and on their couches. The kitchen was completely destroyed, the stove that was once white was completely black, there were millions of trash bags just waiting to be taken out, moldy food sitting around, just totally disgusting. They even admitted to me that they came to our house so much to get away from the disaster they have at home. Yet when I go over to ask them something, I see them sitting on their lazy butts, always on their laptops, wasting valuable time they could be using to clean. Well, my concerns are with their child. Their house is so nasty that they have mold growing in their restroom and no will to clean it. So they never bathe her, they always keep her in a playpen (which she is already one year old, she should be able to have space to run around!), they don't even feed her right. You can see it when they bring her out to play with my son and the other neighbor's daughter. My son and the other neighbor's daughter are chubby, very healthy looking and able to walk and run. Their child is very small, very thin, and has trouble responding when they call her name, and walks without bending her knees. They said they don't really know what they can give her to eat, so they give her 3 bottles of non-fat milk all day. They put her in her crib for constant naps all day so they don't have to deal with her. She had a horrible diaper rash with bleeding and sores, and they came home with a carton of cigarettes instead of diaper rash cream and had the ordacity to say that they could not afford diaper rash cream. I felt so bad, I gave them a tube of my son's. There is just so much more that I could go on and on about, but the point is, that baby is not in good hands. My problem with this is that I have no proof but the words of my two neighbors who also see all this going on. I have a picture of the husband throwing the baby in the air so high that it makes me so mad to see it! (they gave me a print out) The thing is, I am the only one who has it and if I do send it to someone for investigation they will know its me. I seriously do not know whether I should let it be or do something about it. I'm not even very interested in being friends with them at this point, but it just feels so messed up! Someone help me! What would you do?!

I'm making a model heart for my science class (Grade 8) and I have some clear acrylic/plastic tubing stuff (1/4") and I can't figure out how to get the water to flow through the tubing. I have a hand-pump so the air will force the water through it. I have some like 3 way "splitters" things (vacuum tees). But I'm still not sure how to get the water through it, I tried it like this (The thing in top right is a 3 way vacuum tee thing)

Not a very good diagram but I dont have any other ways of showing it. I thought I could use a bulb pump or something to have the red coloured water to go through to tubing so it looks like blood. By the way all this is supposed to look like arteries or veins with blood going through the model heart.
