Interview Question in Solar Regulator

Interview Question :: Voltage regulator

What could I use to stop a solar panel that produces 9 volts, 70 milliamps of electricity from charging 4AA batteries when they are fully charged? I tried Google and they were mostly for 12v batteries, would they still work for it?

RE: Voltage regulator?

Buy a battery charger designed for the batteries you want to charge then replace the primary power supply (transformer and rectifier) with your solar power.

What you could do is use a 12v panel to charge a small 12v battery. Then use an low power inverter

to run a conventional charger. Not very efficient, I know but allows you to use standard easily obtained components.

well we know that most aa cells are 1.5 volts so wire up the battery storage whatever in series, when the meter gives a reading of 3 volts have it break the charging cicuit with a comparator? would this work

RE: Voltage regulator?

There are a number of ICs designed to charge rechargeable batteries. Look at National Semiconductor, for example, for these.
